The Gunner’s 1-0 win over Manchester United last Sunday moved them back to the top of the Premier League. But, Manchester City have one more game to play tonight at the home of Arsenal’s north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, before the deciding games on Sunday.
If Manchester City win tonight, they will be two points ahead of Arsenal in the League. Meaning that Arsenal would have to win and Man City would have to lose for Arsenal to take home the title.
Ex-England player turned pundit Gary Neville believes that tonight’s game will be the decider for the Premier League title race.
“There are some moments along the way but it will come down to that game on Tuesday night. They [City and Arsenal] will not make mistakes on Sunday.”
The situation means that Tottenham fans find themselves in a dilemma. They have an outside chance of pipping Aston Villa to the fourth Champions League spot, which means they could compete with the top teams in Europe.
However, keeping these hopes alive means they have to give their all to win tonight which would also mean their north London arch rivals, Arsenal, will have the title in their hands.
But Spurs boss Ange Postacoglu doesn’t think there should be any doubt in fans minds about who they want to win tonight.
Speaking ahead of the match, Postacodglu said he will “never understands if someone wants their own team to lose.”
Although City has been polled as the favourites to win tonight, it might be a bigger challenge then some think.
City has lost every league game at Spurs since the North Londoners moved to the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium in 2019. And Spurs and City did draw earlier this season at the Etihad.
However City did beat Tottenham on their own patch back in January for the FA Cup.
Whatever happens tonight, the Premier League title race will now go to the last day of the season.
