Brazil have been declared the hosts of the 2027 Women’s World Cup, beating the joint bid of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany. They will become the first South American nation to host the tournament.
The Brazil bid received 119 votes from member associations, compared to 78 votes for the European bid.
They had been given a slight advantage after a FIFA technical evaluation gave it a score of four out of five last week, while the European bid only scored 3.7.
Gianni Infantino, the Fifa President, said: “Congratulations to Brazil. We will have the best World Cup in Brazil.”

“We knew we would be celebrating a victory for South American women’s soccer and for women,” said president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodrigues.
The nation hosted the men’s World Cup in 1950 and 2014.
Other bids included the United States and Mexico, who withdrew from the 2027 race in April to focus on hosting in 2031, for which they are strong favourites.
South Africa bid, but they pulled out of consideration in November last year.
The decision arguably strengthens the chance of the United Kingdom hosting at some point in the 2030s.
By 2035 it will have been 16 years since Europe last hosted a finals: France in 2019.
The FA chief executive, Mark Bullingham, confirmed last year that they want to host a Women’s World Cup.
The 2027 competition will be the 10th edition of the tournament. The most recent was in 2023, which saw Spain come out as winners after defeating England in the final.
