A teenager detained on Friday last week has appeared in court this morning following a suspect item being found on a London Underground train. Damon Smith, a student at London Metropolitan University, is accused of making or possessing an explosive substance with intent to endanger life or cause injury to property.
The suspect item was found in North Greenwich and was later successfully detonated by armed police.
The suspect remains in custody following his court appearance and will appear at the Old Bailey at a later date.
