Knife attacks in Islington have been increasing across the borough over the last few years.
Gary Hayward, managing director of Move for Life charity set it up in response to postcode knife wars, having himself grown up in a tough environment in Hackney.
Gary’s charity works with local charities, families and people directly affected by knife attacks to help them cope and to get teenagers who would otherwise be on the streets to occupy themselves with dance and sporting activities across the 32 boroughs of London.
Funding is a big issue and so far Gary has gone it all alone to keep teenagers off the streets. He has said that the tactic is working and teenagers are now returning to sporting activities.
These activities can be found on MFL’s website, with instructions of where teenagers can go over the weekends and during school term.
