At approximately 23:15hrs last night officers from Hackney recovered four weapons following a vehicle stop in Hoxton.
Two machetes, a lock knife and a kitchen knife were found on the two males in Hoxton. They remain in custody at a north London police station for possession of offensive weapons.
The seizure of these weapons comes as phase seven of the Met’s Operation Sceptre concluded on Sunday, 29 January.
Op Sceptre is the Met’s response to habitual knife carriers and associated knife which ran between Monday, 23 January and Sunday, 29 January.
Police activity throughout the week included weapon sweeps, intelligence-led stop and search as well as proactive operations to tackle those wanted in connection with knife-related offences and violent crime.
Latest figures from the week of action show 262 arrests and 111 knives
Inspector James Hawkins from Hackney Police said: “The swift work of Hackney officers have removed four potentially lethal weapons from circulation. Knives have no place on our streets and those who choose to carry them will be arrested.”
