An information event run by the will take place in Islington today.

The event, held in the Pullman Hotel in Euston, aims to provide an introduction to HIV treatment for pharmaceutical and medical professionals.

The study day involves speeches and educational workshops by members of the HIV Pharmacy Association on topics such as counseling HIV patients on antiretroviral therapy and recent developments in HIV treatment and prevention.

HIV prevalence is a particular problem in the borough of Islington.

According to a 2015 survey conducted by Islington Council the HIV diagnosis rate is at 8.5 per 1,000 Islington residents aged 15 – 59, four times the national average of 2.1.
