Avenue Tennis club in East Finchley has seen a recent influx of young tennis players.
The success of the new world number 1 Andy Murray has given a boost to the grassroots of his sport. Head Coach at Avenue Tennis Club, Sally Bentley, told CityNews that ‘since [Andy Murray] became tennis world champion more young people are talking about the tennis player as their hero rather than a football player’.
Andy Murray’s success this weekend was highly celebrated as he secured his number 1 ranking. He beat Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the ATP world finals on Sunday.
