Since 2010 Haringey Council has cut it’s budget by 40% by laying off 45% of staff, sharing IT services with Islington and Camden Council, and getting rid of 12 council buildings. However, the Leader of Haringey Council, Claire Kober, says the Council must further reduce costs by £20million over the next two years. This clashes with the growing need for specialist services in Haringey, such as care for vulnerable adults, children’s social care and emergency housing for homeless people.

The council has asked it’s citizens to fill out questionnaires on what they believe to be the most essential council services, in the hope of shedding light on areas where funding can be decreased.
