The City of London is set to have a new tallest building, as French company, AXA Investment, confirmed it will continue construction on a 62-storey skyscraper in London’s Square mile.
Recent uncertainty in the commercial property market sparked concerns that construction of the tower, known as 22 Bishopsgate, would not continue. But AXA said it was taking a long-term view of the investment, and now hopes to complete the building in 2019.
It is situated next to Liverpool Street Station, and once complete, will soar above the City of London’s current skyline: standing at 278 metres tall.
