A woman was rescued from the building by the fire station crew but she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Around 20 people left the flats before the London Fire Brigade arrived.
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters were called to the scene. With an aerial device’s assistance, the fire was taken under control by 4:52 a.m.
The ground and first floors of the four-storey building were damaged while the roof and the second and third floors were destroyed by the fire.
Spent the last two hours watching the fire brigade put out a pretty damn big fire about 4 / 5 houses down from mine – I must say, they are bloody incredible human beings; I am in awe of their bravery, commitment and ability to keep the mood up when it’s at its darkest ???????????????? pic.twitter.com/1YMpqYUGwo

Crews from West Hampstead, Kentish Town, Euston, Paddington, and Holloway fire stations are currently at the scene. Firefighters will remain at Daleham Gardens this morning damping the building down.
Tom George, London Fire Brigade’s Director of Operations has said: “The first two fire engines arrived at the scene in under five minutes, within our target response times of six minutes for an appliance to arrive at an incident. The cause of this fire is not yet known and is being investigated. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who sadly died in this fire.”
While the cause of the fire is under investigation, motorists are being advised to avoid the area while the crews deal with the aftermath of the fire.
Camden Council have said that “a team has been set up to deal with this” in response to questions about the rehousing of those left homeless because of the fire.
