BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing has partnered with the UK’s largest girl-only youth organisation Girlguiding to raise money for the initiative and Children In Need.

Former Strictly contestant and YouTuber Saffron Barker was joined by professional dancers Karen Hauer and Dianne Buswell to surprise more than 40 Brownies, Rainbows and Guides from Hounslow.

After over a year of pyjamas and tracksuit bottoms, the Children In Need ‘Get Your Strictly On’ fundraiser aims to brings some showbiz glitz to the 2021 Appeal.

During the Strictly stars’ visit, Dianne Buswell was particularly impressed by some of the girls’ dance-floor moves.

“I had such a great time with the girls today and I was so impressed with how creatively the unit had added a Strictly twist to their fundraiser.

“I was able to join in with some ace glitterball biscuit decorating and some brilliant dance moves for their danceathon – it is a 10 from me, for sure.

“I am delighted to be able to support charities, like BBC Children in Need and Girlguiding, that are making such a difference to young lives.”

Girlguide members are being encouraged to give their activities a Strictly makeover. For those looking for inspiration, suggested ideas include making ballroom-themed cakes, organising a danceathon or – following in the footsteps of Brownies and Guides in Brentford –  glitterball biscuit decorating.

BBC One is inviting viewers to get involved by dressing up in their Strictly best for the school run, office or trip to the supermarket.

The funds raised through the partnership will be divided equally between Children In Need and Girlguiding.
