Comedian and broadcaster Mark Dolan opens up about his 'two great loves' and navigating the world of TV

Despite over 20 years in comedy and broadcasting, GB News’ Mark Dolan insists that “there’s never a point where you feel like you’ve made it” in the media.

London born Mark Dolan wedded his “two great loves”, comedy and broadcasting by starting off as a TV comedian.

This goes back to 2002, when he starred in the hidden camera comedy show called The Richard Taylor interviews.

Over two decades later, Dolan now hosts Tonight Live with Mark Dolan three nights a week on GB News.

Speaking to City News, the Londoner believes this is an encouraging sign for him:

“Being back on TV, with a primetime show that has my name in the title, which has never happened before…it’s a sign that I’m going in the right direction”.

This comes after Dolan admits he feels like “there’s never a point where you feel you’ve made it” in the media.

The GB News host says the reason for this is “partly because you’re only as good as your last show. And I’m a veteran of TV series that came to an end, even if they were doing well”.

Revisiting a thrilling career

Looking back on his career, Dolan admits he started his career “half-heartedly”, saying:

“I was actually terrified of being on stage, and it made me very nervous. Sometimes I’d book a gig in and then I’d go to the venue and just not have the courage to go in.”

Despite a range of shows under his belt over the years, Dolan’s letter to his younger self would tell him to “stick to it…be a bit more consistent and actually, you know, just commit.”
