A pop-up shop in Shoreditch which will sell stolen goods launches today with any money raised going to charity.
When stolen goods are not reclaimed by their owners they are sold off by the police, and the new Shoreditch store has obtained the goods from a police auction.
The store is at the Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane and a range of goods can be bought from a Mulberry Bayswater handbag, Raybans and even a wooden harp.
Back Me Up, a new insurance app got hold of the stolen items and its director Paul Lynes has said, “We set the Stolen Goods Shop up to help create awareness among young people of the high risk of theft and to raise some money for charity.”
The store is hoping to raise thousands of pounds which will be split between Mind, The Princes’ Trust and Shelter.
The Channel 5 star Richard Taylor who presents ‘It Takes a Thief to Catch a Thief’, will help sell goods at the store and will give tips to customers on how to avoid having their possessions stolen.
The Pop-up store will be open from 3rd-5th November 10.00am-7.00pm and on the 6th November 10.00am-4.00pm.
