The High Court of Justice has served an injunction against the 10,000 prison guards staging a 24-hour protest.
The prison guards, legally unable to strike, had been staging a protest where they refused to do all out-of-prison work for the past 24-hours.
This inaction had caused several trials to be postponed as prison guards refused to transport prisoners to the courts. One of these prisoners was Jose Leonardo, unable to attend his sentencing over the murder of his partner Maria Mbombo.

The Government could not sit idly by as various trials and other prison activity had come to a halt. They called for an emergency High Court investigation into the matter, which identified the illegality of strikes from the part of prison guards. The protesters have been asked to resume full service of their work, this is expected to occur within the end of today.
