A Camden robbery has resulted in an 87-year-old woman being hospitalised.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an unknown man reportedly followed the victim, Ms Magarshick, into the communal lobby of her block of flats.
Ms Magarshick asked the man who he was there to see. The unknown man didn’t reply, but snatched her bag and fled the scene. No witnesses have been able to describe which direction he fled.
After the incident, Ms Magarshick then entered her home and relayed what had happened to a relative. The relative left the room to inform the police. When the relative returned to the room, the retired art teacher had collapsed.
Detective Inspector Adam Ghaboos, from Camden Criminal Investigation Department, said regarding the incident: “This was a nasty robbery on a lifelong resident of Camden. Following falling victim to this crime Ms Magarshick is now fighting for her life. Our thoughts are with her, and her family and friends, during this difficult time.
“We are determined to find the person responsible for the robbery and we would urge any witnesses or anyone with information to contact the police or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
