Hackney council have convinced neighbouring boroughs to join the campaign against Business Rate Hikes.

The Council has partnered with EastEndsTradeGuild to petition the government to freeze business rate hikes. Many long-time businesses of Hackney say their their livelihoods are being threatened with business rate hikes planned this year.

In recent weeks, the campaign had passed its initial target of 1,000 signatures and is now at 5,000 – resulting in Islington & Tower Hamlets Councils joining the fight and starting its own petition for small businesses in the borough. The campaign – through both petitions – demands Sadiq Khan defend the London boroughs against a government. They ask Khan to present their demands to the government:
