Two months after a ticket inspector was assaulted on the 149 Bus in Stoke Newington, Scotland Yard have released a CCTV image of a man who they believe has more information.
The assault occurred on 5th January 2017 at 1.20 pm, while the bus was going down Rectory Road towards Manse Road.
After the ticket inspector challenged a passenger who had not paid, the fare-dodger not only refused to give his details, but punched the inspector in the head, yelling ‘Next time I see you I will kill you’.
Passengers were forced to intervene, pulling the attacker away and pushing him off the bus.
The man that Scotland Yard now want to trace is described as black, in his forties, 5ft 10 inches tall, stocky and with a black moustache. He was pictured on bus CCTV wearing a brown cap and police say he spoke with ‘a London accent.’
PC Neil Webb stated ‘If you commit such an offence, not only will you be prosecuted, but you may also be banned from being able to use TFL operated services in the future.’
TFL’s enforcement and ‘on-street operations’ chief Graham Daley added that his organisation was ‘extremely concerned by these allegations.’
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Webb on 07500 607652 or call Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
