StreetSmart has launched in over 500 restaurants across the UK this week. This year marks their twentieth anniversary of helping homeless charities. Having raised over £8.2 million since 1998.
Homeless figures in the UK have continued to climb and the number of rough sleepers in England every night is over 4,000 people. This is an increase of 134% since 2010.
The StreetSmart campaign is encouraging diners at participating restaurants to add £1 pound to their final bill. 100% of funds raised go to helping homeless people in the UK. Every penny of every £1 raised in each restaurant is distributed by StreetSmart to local charities in cites across the UK.
The campaign doesn’t dip into any of the funds raised because its partner Deutsche Bank, funds their administration fee. This ensures that every pound given by diners goes directly to help the homeless and vulnerable in our society.
“I like StreetSmart, they have a partner who pays for all the administarion separately, so that all the funds go directly to the homeless. How can you fault that” Gordon Ramsey
Restaurant owners such as Gordon Ramsey, River Café owner Ruth Rogers and MEATliquor co-founder Yianni Papoutsis are just the few names who believe in the ethos of StreetSmart.
