Yesterday Azra Kemal appeared at the City of London Magistrates Court yesterday.
Kemal got into a dispute with a taxi driver when she was on a night out. She claimed he had broken her phone.
While arguing with him she kept climbing into the front of the cab.
The taxi driver, identified as Georgios, asked her to get out of the taxi. Her companion did, but Kemal refused.
When she finally got out, she stole his keys, ran away and threw them in the drain. After that she took off her heels and chased him down, hitting him on the head with the shoes.
Kemal claimed she couldn’t recall the incident because she was too drunk. It wasn’t until she heard the 999 phone call made by the taxi driver in court that she remembered anything
She was sentenced to a 12 months community order, a 20 day rehabilitation programme, six months of alcohol treatment and an amount of 585 pounds to pay.
The student wasn’t happy with the sentence as she claimed she had no income at the moment. When asked by the Judge how she planned to pay off the fine, she said “your guess is as good as mine”.
