Mr George Denty of Raglan Avenue, Kentish Town, appeared at Highbury and Islington Magistrates Court accused of attacking his mother Brenda Denty.

He was also alleged to have kicked the family’s front door in later on in the evening.

Mr Denty, 37, pleaded guilty to all charges.

The incident was reportedly sparked by a row over the recipe for venison pie. However according to the prosecution, the grievance had been caused by tensions regarding the mother’s new boyfriend.

The prosecution described how Mr Denty pushed his mother, Brenda, to the floor and held an axe to her face resulting in a ‘grazed eye, swollen cheekbone and a shallow cut to her arm.’

It was reported that Mr Denty also brandished a fire poker at other family members.

Mr Denty was ejected from the property but returned at 9:45p.m.

After he was denied access back into the house, Mr Denty kicked the front door with enough force to ‘damage the hinges.’

It was at this point that Brenda Denty phoned the police and he was subsequently arrested.

During Mr Denty’s hearing, the prosecution told the court that he had acted ‘aggressively’ during police interviews and reportedly stated ‘he hated his mother.’

The defence argued that while the charge of common assault was serious, Brenda Denty’s injuries were not severe, and urged the Judge to consider a more lenient sentence.

The case is still ongoing, with Mr Denty set to be sentenced at a later date.
