CCTV played to the court showed the two defendants hiding behind a bike kiosk whilst the victim and a friend walked towards them. The footage then showed the two defendants emerge from behind the kiosk. Mockford then stabs Dornelly.
For the prosecution, this stabbing was a successful and pre-meditated gangland ‘ambush’. For the defence, this was the action of two men fearing for their lives in an unknown part of North-East London.
The verdict is due at 4pm today.
The single stab wound is said to have severed the victim’s aorta causing death by fatal blood loss.
Whilst both defendants are charged with murder, it is Mockford that stabbed the victim and so it is possible that the defendants receive different verdicts.
