According to witnesses, Samah Naz had been assaulted in the car park and Mr Watfa the trolley gatherer at Tesco had let the man get away.

However, this could not be confirmed, as the CCTV cameras in the car park were not working that day, but the responding officers viewed the footage in the store.

The jury then heard that Ms Naz called Mo Watfa, a trolley gatherer at Tesco, a ‘f***ing foreigner’ and demanded that he ‘should be sacked.’

The incident occurred at about 16:30 on the 22nd of March 2015, which is when Ms Naz was running for the Richmond and North Kingston Parliamentary seat in the general election.

The decision to take Ms Naz to court was made after evidence was given to the Crown Prosecution Service.

When she was informed of her summons to court over the phone, Samah Naz was heard to exclaim that they would ‘believe a bunch of terrorists over [her].’

The trial continues.
