Camden Council’s planning committee is expected to give the go-ahead to proposals for nearly 600 new homes on a site between Camden Roundhouse and Stables Market.

Camden’s old Goods Yard will be redeveloped with cafés, restaurants, shops and a park alongside railway arches. The proposed chilli farm will be on top of one of the blocks, in a series of glasshouses that could hold 1,800 plants and produce almost 5,000 kilos of peppers a year.
There will also be space for residents to grow their own crops within what is billed as the UK’s largest rooftop urban farm.
The proposal is “strongly supported” by the Greater London Authority and has been hailed by Camden Council as a “once in a life-time development opportunity.”
Controversy
But conservationists have raised concerns that the new buildings, although mid-rise, would still loom over the listed Roundhouse and market buildings.
Residents have also raised fears that an influx of new neighbours into the area, that already attracts an estimated 28 million tourists each year will cause chaos.
