Gary Goldsmith faces sentencing today

Mr Goldsmith appeared  in Westminster Magistrates Court today for sentencing for punching his wife during an argument last month after being dropped home by a taxi.

The Taxi driver’s statement was read out again in court today. He claims that the argument had intensified to the point where Mrs Goldsmith slapped Mr Goldsmith across the face.  He then retaliated and punched Mrs Goldsmith, knocking her unconscious.

He was found guilty of category 2 assault on November the 14th.

Mr Goldsmith was spared jail time for the attack. Instead he faces a 12 month community order, including sessions of rehabilitation and a fine of £5,000.

Mr and Mrs Goldsmith attended the weddings of both Katherine and Pippa Middleton. He is also the younger brother of Carole Middleton, the Duchess’s mother.

He will continue to attend counselling sessions as part of his sentence.
