Serj Singh, the Chair of London AFSA, presented the commissioner with the award.
Though fire at Grenfell was not referred to directly, as Mr Singh handed the award, he said it was in recognition of her “continued support” for AFSA and for her leadership during “testing times”.

Ms. Cotton said: “I truly feel honoured to be given this award. This year as you know as been very difficult and I could not have done it without the fantastic support of the people I work with at the London Fire Brigade.”
“It isn’t about me, it’s about the team I work in,” she added.
Dany Cotton started her career when she was just 18. She is the first female fire commissioner.
