By walking in a greener area, such as Hyde Park, the positive effects of exercise can still be felt.
Professor Kian Fan Chung, who lead the study, said that the findings were “important” as, for many people, “very often the only exercise they can do is walk”.
He advised older adults to “walk in green spaces, away from built-up areas and pollution from traffic”.
It’s been sixty five years since the great smog of 1952, which claimed an estimated 12,000 lives and lead to the creation of the Clean Air Act.
Sadiq Khan and the British Lung Foundation are both campaigning for reform this very act, with the mayor having announced a new air monitoring system for the city yesterday.
