The final prosecution evidence was heard today at Woolwich Crown Court following the Finsbury Park attack.
Prosecutor Jonathan Rees presented the jury with prosecution evidence regarding who was driving at the time of the attack and whether Osborne acted with others.
The court was shown body camera footage from PC David Jones, who handcuffed Osborne after the collision and out him in the back of the police van.
In the footage a man believed to be Osborne can be heard saying “I lost control of the van” while in the back of the police van.
PC David Jones then asks: “Were you driving, yeah?” to which the man the prosecution says is Osborne says “yeah”.
When asked if he had been drinking, the man in the footage admits consuming “a couple of pints”.
Following the incident, while Osborne was under armed guard at University College Hospital, Metropolitan Police’s DC Paul Dring conducted an urgent safety interview with Osborne.
Prosecutor Jonathan Rees said DC Paul Dring asked about whether anyone else was involved in the incident, to which Osborne said “no”.
PC Paul Dring finished his interview with Osborne with a question on whether he knew anything that could harm anyone, to which he replied “no”.
Prosecutor Rees told the court that after a pause Osborne added, “I’m flying solo.”
The prosecution case has now concluded.
