The Islington pub on Barnsbury street is to donate all profits to the charity “to improve the lives of people who need protection.”

Nick Gibson, owner of the pub, wants to balance out the good things about love and the fact that some people do not have enough love in their life.

“The funds will help victims get to get on with the life’s and allow them to escape violence or cruelty.”

1 in 4 women experience domestic violence

Refuge support victims of abuse and violence across the UK. They provide refuges, community outreach projects, and the 24 hour National Domestic Violence Helpline.

Sandra Horely, the CEO of Refuge, praises the Drapers Arms for ‘their generous offer.’

In the year ending March 2016 1.2 million women reported experiences of domestic abuse in England and Wales.

And government data suggests 1 in 4 women experience domestic violence in the UK.

Sandra acknowledged that thousands of women and children will be spending their valentine’s day like every other day in terror.

Drapers Arms will donate an estimated £3,000 to the charity.

Nick says the donation is a commitment the pub has made and assures that he will continue donating as long as there’s a need for it.
