Hackney has banned the disposable BBQ. So we found six London parks where you can still get your sausages sizzling.
Caledonian Park, Islington
Islington was the first borough to allow the use of BBQs in its parks in 2011. Caledonian Park has woodland areas and multi-sports facilities for you to enjoy alongside your char-grilled cuisine.
Waterlow Park, Highgate
With its hilltop settings, Waterlow Park boasts panoramic views of London as well as terraced gardens and two ponds.
Lincoln’s Inn Fields, Holborn
It’s very rare that you’re able to BBQ in central London but at Lincoln’s Inn Field you can. There’s plenty of green space around the tennis courts to pitch up a BBQ… just remember that the park is only open from 7:30am – dusk.
Cantelowes Garden, Camden
Camden welcomes barbecues in all of its parks apart from Primrose Hill, Regents Park and Hampstead Heath. Cantelowes Garden sits on the outskirts of Camden which means you can hop into the nearest bar after you’ve finished BBQing and spend the rest of your night partying.
Burgess Park, Southwark
Next to the Shard and London Bridge, Burgess Park is the only place South of the river where you can get your grill out. It even has two areas within the park that are designated for BBQing. It also boasts outdoor sports areas and a BMX track.
