Islington Council is planning to ban through traffic around six primary schools in the borough.
This follows findings that 33 of Islington’s primary schools were located in areas above the recommended threshold for nitrogen dioxide.
Figures from the London Assembly show that 50% of our air pollution comes from road transport and that approximately 25% of all educational establishments are in areas that breach the legal limit for Nitrogen dioxide.

The scheme is intended to reduce air pollution created by motorists and increase safety for children by closing off roads near schools in Islington between 08:45-09:30 and 15:15-16:00.
The schools in question are:
Ambler primary school
Ashmount primary school
Drayton Park primary school
Rotherfield primary school and
Yerbury primary school.
Residents can have their say until the consultation closes on Sunday.
