Three-time Formula 1 World Champion Nikki Lauda died last night after a battle with Pneumonia.
He passed away eight months after receiving a lung transplant.
The driver was famed for his remarkable return to the sport, just six weeks after a life-threatening crash at the 1976 German Grand Prix.

The incident left him with third degree burns and severely damaged lungs after he inhaled toxic gas.
A statement released by his family talks about “his tireless drive, straightforwardness and courage. His unique achievements as an athlete and entrepreneur are and will remain unforgettable.
“He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather away from the public.”
