The son of Sir Keir Starmer’s chief of staff is running to be a Labour MP for one of south London’s newest constituencies.
Liam Conlon beat Medical Aid for Palestinians CEO Melanie Ward for the Beckenham and Penge seat.
Mr Conlon is currently the Lewisham West & Penge Labour Party Vice Chair and Campaigns Coordinator.
He has stressed an importance in campaigning for disability rights as well as a focus on the NHS after a “life-challenging accident” left him unable to walk for four years.
His mother Sue Gray was appointed to the role of the Labour leader’s chief of staff this year.
She also led the Partygate investigation – the government scandal which saw gatherings take place during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Her appointment was met with conflict of interest claims from Boris Johnson’s supporters.
