A dog owner has died after being mauled to death by her two XL bullies. The woman, in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene on Monday afternoon in Hornchurch, east London.

From February 1 this year, it became a criminal offence to own the XL bully breed without an exemption certificate. When owning the breed legally, the dog must be neutered, microchipped and muzzled on a lead in public.
Neighbours say they heard barking during the attack, and described seeing paramedics administer CPR to the victim in her front garden. The dogs have been seized.
