Ahead of World Menopause day this Friday, Menopause Mandate have organised several walks around the country to raise awareness for Menopause.

Menopause Mandate is chaired by Mariella Forstrup. She attended the walk in Battersea park on Monday afternoon.

The event aims to educate and spread awareness to a large demographic, though younger women were fewer in numbers.

There is such a strong sisterhood, but it could go further if men got involved in the debate.

Menopause Mandate has run the most awareness walks to date, with Leeds, Manchester and Cardiff all hosting this week.

The organisation conducts walks to educate, stop scaremongering and provide easier access to HRT (a hormone replacement drug).

The walk was attended by over 300 women, with no men in attendance. Among the campaigners were the wife of Rod Stewart, Penny Lancaster and former Olympian, Michelle Griffith Robinson.

Holland and Barret sponsored the event and a spokesperson gave comment saying ‘more women walk to deal with the affects of menopause.’

52% of the UK population are women and Menopause Mandate stresses that this natural stage of life must be better understood.

Events included talks from medical experts, dancing warmups, goody bags, medals and menopause associated rap music.  Among the crowd were campaigners holding placards and wearing fancy dress relating to female genitalia.
