Plans for Barnet to come home have been submitted to the Council.

National League leaders Barnet FC took a massive step on their journey back to the Football League following a 3-1 victory over 2nd place York City. However, they play their home fixtures closer to Harrow than they do to Barnet.

Since 2013, Barnet FC have played their home matches at Canons Park, which takes over an hour to get to from High Barnet tube station.

But this is set to change soon as the club has announced plans to move back to Barnet.

They hope to move to a site just south of Arc Pioneer Academy school, just a six-minute walk away from High Barnet tube station.

The plan for the new stadium

The new stadium would be called New Underhill and would have a capacity of 7,000 seats. It would also be entirely funded by the chairman of the Barnet FC.

The move back to central Barnet is being backed by the campaign group Bring Back Barnet, an independent campaign group that has over 5,000 supporters.

Co-founder Keith Doe tells City London News that the campaign aims to hold Barnet FC and the council to account in order to find the best possible solution for both club and community.

Doe says these plans go much further than the football and could bring back business to the high street, as well as providing jobs for the local area.

Awaiting council approval

According to Doe, the planning application has been successfully submitted to the council. He says that when it is approved, construction can start straight away.
