Heather Peace tries on a wig on the set of EastEnders

The 49-year old, who has played Eve Panesar-Unwin in EastEnders since 2021, revealed her diagnosis to her followers on Instagram.
In a video showing her getting a wig fitted for the show, Peace wrote “I’ve been on quite a road for many months now. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of October.”
She continues to say “since then I’ve undergone surgery and recovery over the Christmas period and today my chemotherapy journey ended.”
The actress who has also starred in shows including Holby City, Waterloo Road, and London’s Burning likened finishing her treatment to reaching “the end of the London Marathon”.
She also explained how it had impacted her relationships and world view “I’ve stayed still. I’ve found joy in the simplest of things.
Interactions with others have felt honest and real because I’ve had no capacity for small talk.”
She went on to thank the EastEnders team and the NHS for their support in her recovery.
Many of her co-stars also sent messages of support. Lacey Turner, who plays Eve’s ex-wife Stacey Slater, replied “My superhero !! Love you always mate”.
Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter – the current owner of the famous Queen Vic pub in Albert Square- posted “I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…. WARRIOR WOMAN!!!! Love the bones of you.”
EastEnders, which is 40-years old, celebrated it’s anniversary earlier this year.
