Londoners got a fright last Saturday, as a horde of zombies shuffled across central London.

Celebrating World Zombie Day 2025, these horror fanatics celebrated all things scary, raising funds for a good cause as well.

The event returned from a 6 year hiatus, with the last event held in London in 2019.

Ghosts, ghouls, and even one zombie Mr Blobby gathered outside Marble Arch to take photos, touch up their pale makeup and drench themselves in oozing fake blood.

They then set off through into the streets, limping and groaning as they gave commuters and shoppers a shock.

Whilst this might look like another one of the weird and wonderful things that happen in London, this event means so much to the people who take part.

Two of the participants, dressed as a zombie husband and wife, told us that World Zombie Day 2025 marked their 10th anniversary, as they coupled up at the event in 2015.

We spoke to another walker, Michael, who told us that what made Zombie Day special was “the community, and the love of zombie, all of the movies as well.”

Amongst the horde, organisers carried blue collection tins that jangled with change, adding to the soundscape of groans and squeals from frightened passers-by.

The walk raised money for Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Brentwood, Essex.

A spokesperson for Hopefield told us: “every single penny raised is a lifeline.

“It helps us continue the essential animal welfare work that gives nearly 700 rescued animals the chance to live out their days in peace, safety, and love.”

Not only were these zombies raising money to save lives, they were injecting some much needed excitement and variety back to London’s streets.

With their impressive and startlingly realistic makeup, they certainly got Londoners talking, and some squealing in fear.

So next October, if you and your family fancy getting into the Halloween spirit early, maybe World Zombie Day is the event for you.
