Champions League Preview: Slavia Prague vs Arsenal and Spurs vs Copenhagen
Two North London clubs are in Champions League action tonight with Spurs looking to bounce back at home, and Arsenal seeking victory in Eastern Europe.
Two North London clubs are in Champions League action tonight with Spurs looking to bounce back at home, and Arsenal seeking victory in Eastern Europe.
The Czech Capital awaits Arteta’s Arsenal, as they look to continue their dominant defensive work and maintain their unbeaten run in the Champions League this season. Though Prague formerly acted as a residence for Holy Roman Emperors, it will be Jindřich Trpišovský who will look to rule his Slavia Prague side over the conquering north Londoners tonight.
Last time out at the Emirates, the Gooners cooly dispatched a usually rigid Atletico side 4-0, with all goals coming inside a fifteen-minute period in the second half. A Viktor Gyokeres brace aided Arsenal then, but the big Swede is one of eight first team players ruled out for tonight. Also looking set to come in are young guns Andre Harriman-Annous and Max Dowman. Both made their debut starts against Brighton in the Carabao Cup last week, making Dowman the youngest ever Arsenal player to start for them in their history.
Last time out Prague held on for a 0-0 draw away at Atalanta and their defence has been as sturdy as Prague’s historic castle walls, however tonight they will need more prowess than a Hussite archer to break down Arsenal’s backline who have only conceded three goals in the League this season.Meanwhile back home, Tottenham look to recover from a lacklustre performance against Chelsea as they face Copenhagen, who (in any competition) have never beaten an English team away from home. Spurs have managed to avoid defeat so far this season in the Champions League, whilst the Danish giants search for their first win. Many fans will recognise teenage record breaker Youssoufa Moukoko who tore up the Bundesliga not so long ago and will surely look to show his prolific goal scoring ability tonight against Spurs.
