A former Met Police inspector will appear in court tomorrow after being charged with five counts of rape.
John Doyle, 53, who was previously attached to the Met’s Specialist Firearms Command, faces 17 charges in total.
The alleged offences took place between 2012 and 2024 and relate to one female victim.
Doyle, originally from Liverpool, is also accused of assault by penetration, coercive and controlling behaviour, actual bodily harm, grievous bodily harm with intent, misconduct in public office and possession of extreme pornography.
The Met said Doyle was originally arrested on 24th June 2024 following allegations relating to a period of alleged abuse spanning 12 years. He was dismissed in December, after a private misconduct hearing.
He was charged on 4th February and will appear in Westminster Magistrate Court on 11th February.
