Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was arrested this morning in Norfolk and remains in police custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The investigation follows the release of a large set of documents linked to the late Jeffrey Epstein.
King Charles III has said in a written statement
“What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities…In this, as I have said before, they have our full and wholehearted support and co-operation…As this process continues, it would not be right for me to comment further on this matter.”
Thames Valley Police confirmed they had arrested a man in his 60s and were searching two addresses. The force did not name the suspect, but acknowledged the significant public interest in the case.
Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt said the royal family was facing a situation that it was “ill-equipped to navigate”. Mr Hunt told the Press Association: “The arrest of the eighth in line to the British throne is seismic.
“Senior royals are now in uncharted waters that they are ill-equipped to navigate.

Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said police had opened an investigation after “a thorough assessment” and would issue updates “at the appropriate time”, citing the “significant public interest” in the case.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer told BBC Breakfast that “nobody is above the law”, but would not comment on the individual under investigation.
The arrest follows reports that newly released Epstein documents include material said to relate to Andrew’s former trade role, including claims that reports were shared with Epstein.
