On August 6, 2015, Broadway got hit by a musical that was political, punchy and impossible to ignore.

Hamilton.

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hip-hop retelling of the life of US founding father Alexander Hamilton became an instant sensation, selling out its run and scooping 11 Tony Awards in 2016.

Then, like Hamilton himself crossing the Atlantic in 1772, the show made its way to London. It opened in the West End in 2017 and has been at the Victoria Palace Theatre ever since.

The original Broadway cast became stars in their own right. Miranda led the show as Hamilton, Daveed Diggs lit up the stage as Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, and Philippa Soo won over audiences as Eliza Hamilton.

There was long-running speculation that the original cast might bring that same magic to the West End.

They never did. Until now. Because there is one name we have not mentioned yet.

The Tony winner is set to reprise his iconic role as Hamilton’s friend, rival and eventual enemy, Aaron Burr.

For many, the part was Odom Jr’s breakthrough. His dark, magnetic and brilliantly layered performance earned him the 2016 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.

Last autumn, he sent theatre fans into meltdown when he briefly returned to the role on Broadway, with cheering crowds bringing the show to a standstill as soon as he stepped on stage.

Speaking about the role, Odom Jr said: “Returning to Hamilton and revisiting the role of Aaron Burr with the growth and perspective of time has been a profoundly healing artistic experience.

“I am thankful to Cameron Mackintosh and Jeffrey Seller for the invitation to make my West End debut with this fabulous company.

“The London production will grant me a few more glorious weeks to share Lin-Manuel’s music with an international audience who, I have learned, love this show as much, if not more, than I. I’m crossing the ocean and I just can’t wait.”

So here is what you need to know if you want a seat in the room for one of the biggest theatre events of the year.

Odom Jr will take to the stage at the Victoria Palace Theatre from July 3 to September 5, 2026.

Tickets go on general sale on Friday March 13 at 11am.

Official prices have not been confirmed, but fans should expect seats to range from around £50 to £300.

In other words, if Hamilton has been sitting on your bucket list for years…

Do not throw away your shot!
