A teenage boy has died in a flat fire in Southwark.
The fire took hold on Coopers Road, Bermondsey, just before 3pm on Wednesday, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) says.
Fire services responded within six minutes and had contained the flames by 4.34pm.
Tragically, one teenage boy was declared dead at the scene. Another survived and was taken to hospital.
The fire happened in a flat on the first floor of a six-storey building.
Firefighters attended from across London, using the 64-metre turntable ladder from Old Kent Road station, thee LFB added.
The Met Police and London Fire Brigade’s Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the fire.
