Police have arrested two men in connection with the arson attacks on Jewish charity ambulances in Golders Green.
The British men aged 47 and 45 were detained on Wednesday and questioned on suspicion of arson following Monday’s attacks.
The Metropolitan Police said the pair have been released on bail while the investigation continues.
Officers have carried out searches at addresses in the Kilburn and Kings Cross areas of North London where the men were arrested.
In the early hours of Monday, four ambulances from Hatzola operating in Golders Green were set on fire.
Gas canisters kept in the ambulances exploded after they were set alight, with nearby homes evacuated as a precaution.
The commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Mark Rowley, said earlier this week the force was investigating whether an Islamist group with possible Iranian state links was behind the arson attack.
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads policing in north-west London, said:
“I want to reassure the community that an enhanced, bespoke policing plan and activity, which is particularly focused around vulnerable areas right across London, will continue over coming days and weeks.
“These are precautionary and not in response to any specific threat, and we continue to work alongside our colleagues in counter-terrorism policing to support their investigation.”
Anyone with information has been encouraged to contact police on 101.
