The council refused HS2’s proposition to demolish the Cartmel housing block in order to build a new bridge in its place.
They now plan to instead raise the current bridge by four metres which has lead to concerns over the impact this will have on residents.
Despite the council’s effort to prevent the development of the railway from impacting Camden residents, a recent survey showed that an overwhelming number of residents in fact support this option.
The new railway will link London Euston station in the heart of Camden with the East Midlands, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester. Work is planed to begin this year, and is estimated to be completed in Birmingham by 2026.
