The Phoenix Cinema, in Barnet, holds today a screening for dementia sufferers with the support of the Alzheimer’s Society.

The screening of ‘A Chorus Line’, a musical drama film by Richard Attenborough, in East Finchley cinema is meant to be adjusted to dementia patients. Brighter lightings, quieter sounds and a break in the middle are set to offer a maximal comfort to viewers.

If it is the first time for the Barnet Phoenix Cinema to hold such an event, the Alzheimer’s Society is used to it. Each month, the organisation is involved in improving Dementia sufferers’ access to cultural happenings such as going to the cinema.

Barnet Council is, through this event, supporting Alzheimer’s Society actions and highlighting them thanks to a Dementia Adviser present on each venue to offer information on how to live well with dementia and the support available for carers for someone living with the condition.
