Hackney is cracking down on businesses selling tobacco illegally. ‘Operation Shona’ has so far uncovered three illegal tobacco businesses in Hackney.
Whilst one has been closed, two are still being investigated. Councillor Caroline Selman told City News, “Illegal tobacco sellers deprive the community of funding, and expose residents to the potential health consequences of unregulated products”.
Residents who see illegal trade have been encouraged to report them to the police via the non-emergency line, 101.
