Hi, I’m James and I spent the day reporting with my camerawoman Hannah.

After talking over several stories, we settled on covering a meeting a being organised by the London Assembly Environmental Committee, where they were discussing whether it was time to put a tax on plastic bottles.

After pitching, Hannah and I decided to head straight over to City Hall, so we could watch the end of the live meeting.

As well as the Environmental Committee, there were experts from charities and groups who are working to combat the environmental impact of plastic bottles.

At the meeting we discovered that Londoners use 3.37 plastic bottles of water each week, which is more than anywhere else in England, and single-use plastic bottles are one of the main forms of litter in the Thames – which are huge statistics!

Afterwards we managed to grab Fiona Llewellyn, who’s the Marine Project Manager at Zoological Society of London (ZSL), and was at the meeting. Fiona is involved in running the OneLess campaign, which is a campaign that aims to free London from single use plastic water bottles.

Fiona told us about how the meeting went for her, and what she wants to see in the future from the London Assembly.

After this, we headed over to Camden. We wanted to get the Camden local’s views on a potential plastic bottle tax, or even a ban. We met some great people – who all had really interesting views on the issue.

It was now about 5pm, so we headed back to the studio where I worked on the script for our piece and Hannah edited two videos for our 12:30pm show and for social media!
