Give a big round of applause to the Drag Kings! You have seen it correctly, women are dressing up as men and it’s the new craze set to take the LGBTQ community in London by storm.

A group cast from Hackney made up of all of women playing men called The Pecs Collective wants to take London performance scene by storm, one show at a time. Celine Lowenthal, one of the co-founders of the group says; “We do feel that Drag Kings in London are under appreciated but the community is definitely growing and this is the first group where many of us have been working together in this way.”

Temi Wilkey the other founder also spoke to City News saying “This is about bringing hope and support to the LGBT community, revitalizing eroding LGBT spaces but also helping women to excel and unleash their inner masculinity. We want to break the patriarchy!”

Other organizations are also investing in this trend. Jane Cahill from The Cliteratti events have booked the group to perform on for their next bash tomorrow at The Yard in Hackney. She says; “We seek to promote the performance of queer women for diverse audiences. Drag Kings are revitalizing drag for a new generation and are drawing in new audiences, we are very excited to see what they bring to the stage!”
