The Court of Appeal is reserving judgement in the Mark Duggan appeal case .

Mark Duggan’s family has urged judges to overturn an “unsafe” lawful killing inquest verdict delivered in 2014.
29-year-old Duggan was fatally shot by a North London policeman and his death sparked the now infamous riots in Tottenham, which spread nationwide in August 2011.
Hugh Southey QC said the family had found the inquest “traumatic” and “do not seek a fresh inquest”.
Mr. Southey said that the coroner had given the jury an “unlawful direction” which made the verdict unsafe, he told appeal judges. He also said it was important to the family for the previous unlawful killing verdict to be overturned and for it to be recorded as unsafe.
An inquest jury had previously found Mr Duggan’s death to be lawful by a majority of eight to two.
Mr Duggan was unarmed when he was shot by the policeman. A weapon was discovered about 20ft away from where he died, but he was never confirmed to be linked to him.
