Organised by the ‘Pregnant Then Screwed’ campaign, the march started at Trafalgar Square, with mums and families marching across Westminster dressed up in Halloween costumes, raising awareness of this discrimination.
The campaign calls for an increase in the time limit given for a tribunal claim to be raised, from three months to at least six months, and give both parents access to six weeks’ parental leave paid at 90% of their salary.
It has been 19 months since the Government commissioned a report into pregnancy and maternity discrimination, revealing that 54,000 women a year are forced out of their job in regards to pregnancy issues.
The report produced some alarming statistics, including that 77% of working mums ‘endure negative treatment in their area of work’.
Despite the Government having commissioned this research report, it is claimed that no action has been taken to tackle this.

Protesters are aiming to ‘demand recognition, respect and change for working mums,’ and plan to present a list of particular demands to MPs in Westminster.
The ‘Pregnant Then Screwed’ campaign provides free legal advice service and a mentor scheme that supports women who are considering legal action against their employer.
